Top 2025 EGDE Jared Smith Transferring to Thompson High School

Jared Smith, 4 Star Edge Rusher out of Birmingham, AL, announced he will be transferring from Spain Park High School (Hoover, AL) to Thompson High School (Alabaster, AL). Jared Smith is one of the most coveted prospects in a loaded 2025 class in the state of Alabama. Smith ranks 14th nationally according to 24/7 sports and 3rd in the state only behind 5-star’s Ryan Williams and Na’eem Offord. Jared Smith is currently listed at 6’6 and 230lbs. Smith holds offer from numerous schools, including the likes of Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Florida State, and Colorado. Smith has been dominating in his first two year of varsity football at Spain Park. Totaling 7 sacks in his freshmen year and totaled 4.5 sacks in one game last year against Chelsea.

Thompson is currently on a roll at 7-1 this year and just locked up the Region 3 title after a dominating win over Tuscaloosa County this past weekend. The Warriors will take on Hoover this Friday in a big rivalry game before they head to playoffs as they look to complete the journey to five straight state titles. Spain Park on the other hand is coming off a massive upset over Hewitt-Trussville and is waiting for the result of the Chelsea vs Hewitt Trussville game to decide their postseason faith. The Jaguars are currently 5-3 with games against Oak Mountain and Pelham to close out their season. The jaguars took a massive leap in year 2 under second year head coach Vakakes.

His move is massive with Smith transferring to an already loaded talented defense at Thompson. Lead by 2025 4-star safety Anquon Fegans, holding many power 5 offers. And not to mention the talent on the offense side of the ball with freshman phenom, Trent Seaborn. This move also continues the tradition of great defensive linemen in Thompson’s past with current Alabama Linebacker, Jerimiah Alexander, and Defensive Tackle for Clemson Peter Woods. This move makes an instant impact for Thompson and immediately elevates them to a clear front runner to complete the goal of a fifth straight state title.
